Hello, nice to meet you!
This special photo series, created by the renowned Dutch photographer David Galjaard, invites the viewer to discover Fontys Academy of the Arts behind the scenes. It captures everyday life, the people, and the creative energy of the academy. The project is part of FAA’s new visual identity and represents an alternative way of introducing the academy and its inner workings.
The photos offer an honest and compelling portrayal of a contemporary art academy where experimentation, collaboration, and imagination are central.
David Galjaard worked for ten months as a photographer in residence at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. During this period, he visited the campus on multiple occasions, photographing students, lecturers, and staff during classes, rehearsals, meetings, and moments of focus. He also documented spaces, materials, and quiet, reflective moments.
David Galjaard (1983) graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and works as a documentary photographer for, among others, newspapers and magazines. His style is open, personal, and focused on authenticity.
